The Unforgettable Penmen Of New York

New York, ‘the city that never sleeps’ is famous for so many things in the world. From its skyscrapers to its shopping plazas and world’s best restaurants and discos and everything else one can think of, this city gave birth to a lot of top entertainment writers of USA  and mainstream English movies. These screenwriters with their credit, are now not only famous in the USA or any other English speaking country, but also all over the world for their fine skill of writing. Some of the best entertainment writers of New York are 

Woody Allen – this American director, screenwriter and producer needs no introduction; he is a genius whose career span is more than 50 years old. He started as a comedy writer in the UK and then moved to USA again and started his career as a screenplay writer and director. His first movie was’ What's new pussycat?’ This 7 time BAFTA winner had penned several comedy plays and books like Don't Drink the Water: A comedy in two acts, Play It Again, Sam (1969), God: A comedy in one act (1975), The Floating Light Bulb (1981). In his career, he also acted in some comedy movies as well, in them Annie Hall (1977), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), and Husbands and Wives (1992) are worth mentioning.

Martin Charles Scorsese – this New York born director is regarded as one of the finest director and screenwriter the world has ever seen. He has won almost all the international movie and entertainment awards like Cannes Film Festival Best Director Award, Silver Lion, Grammy Award, Emmys, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and DGA Awards and certainly academy award many times in his career. With “Who's That Knocking at My Door” he started his journey in the world of movies. He is not only a great director and producer but also one of the finest and unarguably one of the best screenwriters in the world for main stream English movies. Some of his best creations which gained him several awards are Goodfellas (1990), Cape Fear (1991), The Age of Innocence (1993),Casino (1995),Gangs of New York (2002),The Aviator (2004),The Departed (2006),Shutter Island (2010),Hugo (2011),The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) and so on. This wizard of modern films is a living legend.  His winnings of various prestigious awards can tell us as to how talented and skillful he is in scripting and directing. Till now he has won 22 Academy Award, 21 BAFTA Award, and 27 Golden Globe Award for his films.

Francis Ford Coppola – “The God Father”, this one film is enough to tell us as to what kind of talented this man is in scripting stories. This New York resident not only showed his talent in writing great screenplays but also proved himself as a finest director and producer. Patton (1970) is the first film in which he wrote the screenplay and the academy awarded him with the best original screenplay award to him for the film. The Godfather Part I, II, III, Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), Jack (1996), The Rainmaker (1997) are his other creations.

Ernest Lehman – the Honorary Academy Award of 73 academy awards is another talented New Yorker who also written and directed several good projects one of it is the ‘sound of music’ which is still recognized as one of the best. Hello, Dolly, The King and I, North by Northwest, Sabrina, Sweet Smell of Success, and West Side Story are his some of the best creations.
William Oliver Stone – this American screenwriter and director came into the limelight in the 1980’s for his exceptional and unique style of writing and directions. Along with various awards,  he is also a proud winner of academy awards for Platoon, Midnight Express, and Born on the Fourth of July.
