A renowned celebrity
who has ruled the kingdom of Hollywood for decades and still continues to
spread his charm across the world undoubtedly is the famous icon, Thomas
Jeffery Hanks. This legendary personality set foot in this majestic world in
the year 1956 on July 9th. Thomas Hanks by birth belonged to a very
simple family background that had his mother working as a hospital worker and
his father as a specialty travel cook. His childhood did not have any troubled
phases or jinxed moments that gave him a tough living. His early life was only
caught in a web of mazes and career confusions that kept his mind clogged
throughout.
Thomas Hanks had never
foreseen acting as his career longevity. However, when he auditioned for a
community theatre play at downtown, he caught the eyes of the director who
suggested him to come down to Cleveland, which thus became the “threshold” of
his acting career. There was no looking back after that, as his career journey
took off from that place and “rooted” itself onto the soils of Hollywood that
molded him into a star, he is today.
His signature roles
always had him playing the “boy-next-door”, which seemed ordinary, but pivotal enough
in unique character situations. His roles always depicted regular and simpleton
guys who are most loved and preferred. His major works have won him an
outstanding appreciation and accolades which salutes his seamless determination
and perseverance in the Hollywood Industry. Some of his famous landmark movies
are “Philadelphia, In & Out, Apollo 13, Cast Away, Catch Me If You Can,
Saving Private Ryan, The Terminal” and many more adding to the popular list.
His remarkable
achievements also include Oscar Awards for Forest Gump and Philadelphia, Public
Service Award in recognition for his brilliant performance in Saving Private
Ryan, etc. He also gained a 17th position in a UK based ‘ Empire
Magazine’ in the list of Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time”. Thomas Hanks was
also the youngest award winner of American Film Institute’s Life Time
Achievement Award, which was honored to him by the distinguished “Steven
Spielberg”.
Tom Hanks has even graced the small
screen with his frequent anchoring for Saturday Night Live. He has made a quick
appearance in movies like Happy Days, which in turn had him bag the leading
role in Splash. He was always a man of conviction and believed in being
concrete with his ideas and implementation. In short, he has eternally been the
man of substance.
