George Clooney - The Man Who Made It Large

George Timothy Clooney, born on May 6, 1961 in Kentucky, United States, is an American actor, producer, film director, and screenwriter. Graduated from Augusta High School, George was active in sports like basketball and baseball and did not intend to join the film industry until one of his cousins got him a small role in a feature film.

After that, George began pursuing his acting career and got various television shows, starting from “E/R” in the year 1984. George played several roles in TV shows like “Roseanne”, “The Facts Of life”, and “Sisters” until he got his major breakthrough as a leading role of “Dr. Doug” in the television drama series “ER”. Then there was no looking back and George’s career began to shine. He starred in a number of films while acting in “ER”, simultaneously. He played roles in “From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)”, “One Fine Day (1996)”, “Batman and Robin (1997)”, “Out of Sight (1997)”, “The Thin Red Line (1998)”, “Three Kings (1999)”, and many more.

Later in 1999, George quit from the show “ER” but he did return for the season finale and appeared in a number of films during 2000-2007. During this while, George Clooney made his directorial debut in the year 2002 with “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind”. His production company that he established in partnership with Steven Soderbergh was named as, “Section Eight Productions”. There were several other films that were produced under this banner, to name a few are “Far from Heaven (2002), Syriana (2005), A Scanner Darkly (2006), and Good Night, and Good Luck. (2005).”

However, even though Clooney won an Oscar for best supporting actor in “Syriana”, the production company had to be shut in 2006, because Soderbergh had to focus more on direction. Not much later than this, Clooney found a new production company with his friend and business partner, Grant Heslov, titled, “Smokehouse Productions”.

When it comes to awards and acclaims, Clooney won three Golden Globe Awards for his work as an actor and two Academy Awards. The latest releases of George Clooney include, “Gravity (2013)” which was a major blockbuster at the box office all over the world and “The Monuments Men (2014)”.

Even though Clooney had a golden career in acting, the 52 year old actor is better known for his direction and his political involvements. However, Clooney never talked much about his personal life, saying, “My personal life wouldn’t be personal if I shared it”.
