Before making our mind to go see a movie we
generally read the comments and analysis of the film critics. These critics
play an important role in making a film a big success through the analysis and
evaluation of the film. Some of the film critics who are best known in the
world are Pauline Kael, Andrew Sarris, and Roger Ebert. With their skill of
analyzing the film they made a significant contribution to the film industry.

James
Lewis Hoberman – He started his career as a journalist
in1970, and became the chief film critic in 1988. He was still in this position
until 2012 for his finest skills of analyzing. He was influenced by Ken Jacobs
when he was studying in Columbia university. He has also written several books, most of which became best
sellers, such as Film After Film, An Army of Phantoms, The Magic Hour: Film at
Fin de Siècle, The Dream Life, Movies, Media, and the Mythology of the
Sixties,The Red Atlantis, Communist Culture in the Absence of Communism, and
Jack Smith's Flaming Creatures,.
Jonathan
Rosenbaum – He has been an American film critic for
Chicago reader for more than a decade. Not only in Hollywood movies, he has
also shown his talent in reviewing foreign movies as well. He also made a
documentary on American cinema, named For the Love of Movies: The Story of
American Film Criticism. His books Film:
The Front Line 1983, Placing Movies: The Practice of Film Criticism, Moving
Places: A Life at the Movies (1980), Movies as Politics (1997) and Essential
Cinema (2004), Movie Wars: How Hollywood and the Media Limit What Movies We Can
See (2002) are still famous.
David
Denby – Harvard University graduate David Denby took a
career as a film critic in the year 1970. He started his career with The
Atlantic. He is one of the finest film critics in Hollywood movies. The Modern
Mind, An Intellectual History of the 20th century, is one of the best creations
of him.
ManohlaDargis - ManohlaDargis, 53 year New York Times journalist is
one of the finest the magazines have ever employed. She was awarded for her
critic’s job and got an Award of Excellence in Entertainment Reviews in 1996 by
Greater Los Angeles Press Club. Action/Spectacle Cinema: A Sight and Sound
Reader; American Independent Cinema: A Sight and Sound Reader; Imagining
Reality: The Faber Book of Documentary; are some of the best works by this
talented American critic.
Anthony Oliver Scott – another New York Times world known critic is Anthony
Oliver Scott. The guest critic of Ebert &Roeper, shot to fame for his
exceptional latent in film criticism. He also penned various books on film
criticism.
