Hollywood - The Film City

When the word ‘Hollywood’ strikes our ears, the immediate thought that clicks in our brains is of the Hollywood Film Industry. But it might be astonishing for some that Hollywood was once a small district in Los Angeles, California. This district gradually transformed into a municipality and then later developed into a whole city. With the passage of time, Hollywood completely merged into the city of Los Angeles and has built a name of its own – as the most dominant film industry in the world.

Many acting schools and institutes have been established in the Hollywood city. These institutes and schools have been successfully training their students all the aspects of film making, such as direction, production, camera handling, and acting. 

Now, what we all know it as is that Hollywood is the American film industry that was found in the year 1910. Initially, many people were attracted towards the glitz and glamour of this industry. Many found it as the medium of quick fame and money, while others finally had a chance to portray their imagination through films. Slowly and steadily, Hollywood became the hub of talented artists and it eventually grew even more through the years. 

In more than 100 years of cinema, Hollywood has seen the rise and fall of many superstars. Millions of films released at the box office during these 100 years and the quality of cinema has grown many fold ever since. With the release of its first film in the year 1912, a 17 minute short motion film by director D. W. Griffith, Hollywood has seen countless upstream films and has given a livelihood to millions and billions of artists. 

Apart from entertaining the world, Hollywood has been a great contributor in the economic growth of its country. The films that launch at the box office are highly praised and lived by people, hence are a great source of income for the artists and thus, nation. 

Hollywood is deeply loved by tourists. Every year, millions of people travel to America and Hollywood city is one of the favorites of these tourists, hence another source of earning for the country.

To applaud those who perform well at the box office and to encourage the upcoming talents, numerous award ceremonies are held in Hollywood every year. These include Golden Globe, Academy Awards, Oscars, etc.

The remarkable 100 years of cinema in Hollywood has been successfully entertaining the world and the same is expected to last for ages.
